Macintosh and iPhone/iPod updates and announcements for July 22, 2009:
Macintosh
- Macgasm turned a G3 into a fancy wall clock. That’s G3, by the way, not 3G. Apple used to make desktop computers, you know.
- publicspace.net has announced version 2.0 of The Big Mean Folder Machine. The new release features a re-designed user interface, automated software updates, improved droplet automation and file name conflict resolution as well as improved overall performance. The Big Mean Folder Machine is an essential tool for anyone who works with large file collections, including digital photographers, content creation, post-production, system administrators, and other creative professionals.
- MediaSilo, in conjunction with Apple, BOSFCPUG, and Jon Rutherford from MacProfessionals begins a series of Final Cut Server seminars Friday, July 31 at the Boylston Street Apple Store in Boston, Massachusetts. The free informational session is designed to offer practical insight into applications for Apple’s powerful Final Cut Server solution for creative video applications.
- The Mac Sale has announced their brand new Mac software bundle, offering a great deal to both customers and developers alike. The Mac Sale combines the products of both established Mac powerhouses and startup indie developers. - Norbert M. Doerner has released CDFinder 5.6.1, an update to the popular disk library cataloger. CDFinder keeps track of your digital files, photos, songs, movies, on hard disks, CDROMs, Blu-ray disks, DVD-ROMs, server disks, and any other digital media. Version 5.6.1 adds cataloging support for Elgato EyeTV recordings, and a street-level map for the GeoFinder GPS photo search engine.
- Yabdab Software has launched the public beta of CartLoom ecommerce service and free companion RapidWeaver plugin. CartLoom is a new solution designed for merchants and web designers who need to incorporate the sale of physical or digital goods into their websites. The service supports management of products, inventory, tax, shipping and digital distribution via a simple web interface. A free companion plugin for the popular RapidWeaver web design package is also available.
- Pubblog.com has announced the release of MailSteward, MailSteward Lite, and MailSteward Pro, version 8.2.4. MailSteward archives email in a relational database for easy access and safe backup of all your email. With this release there are new free versions of MailSteward. The free versions have all of the same functionality as the licensed versions, but have an upper limit of 15,000 emails per database.
iPhone/iPod
- NAVIGON AG has announced the availability of a North American version of its on-board navigation software in the iPhone App Store. The MobileNavigator transforms any iPhone 3G, equipped with the new Apple OS 3.0 operating system, and any iPhone 3G S into a complete navigation device.
- MyWeather LLC has announced MyWeather Mobile 1.5.3 for iPhone and iPod Touch. Thousands of international cities spread across six continents have been added to the MyWeather Mobile application. Users can also view radar imagery in the U.S. and Canada, as well as satellite imagery for Asia, North American and South America. The application now includes worldwide forecasts, current conditions, radar imagery and more.
- The Alan S. Harris Group has created an app, The Career Roadmap, that enables individuals to gain the fundamentals for conducting a full scale job search campaign. it helps you to determine the next steps for your professional development. This app should be used to help you plan your foals faster, work smarter and get more done.
- PhatWare Corporation has announced the release of WritePad Professional Edition, an advanced organizer for notes, events, affairs, and voice notes. WritePad Professional Edition is a combination of three previously released applications: WritePad Affairs, WritePad Notes, and WritePad Events. It also features voice notes. The data can be organized in multiple folders, which can be sorted by type, name, and color.
- Moblyng Games, a leading developer of cross-platform multi-player casual games, upped the ante today with its release of m:Poker for five platforms. Moblyng Games’ version of the popular card game Texas Hold’em is now live on Android and Facebook and will soon be available on numerous smartphones and networks, including the iPhone, Palm Pre, Nokia N97 and 5800.
