WimpyButton MP3 Mambot for Joomla
Very simply, when I was looking for an easy and quick way to add playable mp3 links to a client’s music store in Joomla, I couldn’t find one!
I figured there would HAVE to be an easy Wimpy plugin in Joomla that would do it, and when I didn’t find one, I thought I should whip one up!
Installation
- Download the Plugin
Click Here to Download Wimpy Button for Joomla 1.0x - Install the plugin using the Mambot Install in Joomla
- Download the latest version of Wimpy Button.
If you haven’t used Wimpy before, download the Trial version and use it to test and configure the player. Then buy a license! Last I checked, it was less than $20. - Extract and upload the Wimpy Button to your server
- Activate and Configure the Plugin
From the Admin menu, chooseMambots &rquo; Site Mambots &rquo; wimpybutton, then configure the plugin parameter “Player File Location” to point to the location of the Wimpy Button you just uploaded. Publish the Plugin and save. You can also modify the styles to match your site. - Place the Plugin code around your mp3 url, and you’re done!

If you have any questions, you can post them in the forum here.
Configuration

I went ahead and added most of the configurable options from the Wimpy Button to the Plugin options panel:
- Player File Location
The path of the Wimpy Button SWF file. I suggest making it absolute. - AutoPlay
Weather to start playing the MP3 automatically when the page loads. Not always recommended because it’s possible to have multiple players on a page and they’d all start chiming in. - Loop Playback?
Kinda self explanatory. - Show Menu
I can’t imagine why you would want to show the flash menu, but I put this option in here anyway. - Display Quality
The SWF file is so small that I can’t image why you would want to change it, but again, it here just in case. - Audio Buffer
Here you can set the number of seconds the button will buffer the music before it starts to play. - Icecast Buffer
Number of seconds to buffer Icecast streams.
Here’s a cool option! If you use Icecast to broadcast live streams, you can use this button too!
(Theoretically, that is. I haven’t tested that feature yet, sof if anyone does, feel free to email me with the outcome.)
Style/Color
- Width and Height
Pretty much self explanatory. - Background Color
Really only come into play if you choose not to have a transparent background, or the browser doesn’t support transparent backgrounds. - Transparent BG
“Yes” sets the SWF container background to transparent. May not work in all browsers. - Button Style
The default is Round, but you can also choose to make it square. Square might be a more suitable shape for very small buttons. - Arrow Color
The color of the arrow. ‘Nuf said. - Progress Bar Color
The “grinder” bar color. The gray bars in the images to the left. - Button Playing Color
The main field color of the button when it’s playing the mp3. Blue in our example. - Button BG Color
The main field color when the button’s not loaded. Also the color of the mini button when playing. White in our example - Button Hover Color
The color of the highlight ring around the button when the mouse hovers over it. Green in our example.

Let me know what you think, if you all like it, I’ll keep working on it and perhaps make another. Now, remember, Wimpy needs a license, but it’s money WELL spent! Click Here to Download Wimpy Button for Joomla 1.0x
